ActivitiesSalem social events vary: from dance weekends with live bands, movie nights, pool parties, and bonfires to symphony concerts, jazz coffee houses, ski and beach weekends, and mixers with nearby colleges and universities. Lots of Salem students make friends and socialize with students from nearby institutions. (Some students wouldn't miss a Wake Forest basketball game.) Neighboring campuses include Wake Forest, Davidson, Duke, Guilford, North Carolina State, Winston-Salem State, the North Carolina School of the Arts, and the University of North Carolina. Many students make the music scene at local clubs or on campus at one of Salem's four dance weekends -- the informal, semi-formal, winter formal, and spring dances. The Big 3+3 dance weekends comprise three days of events -- everything from hayrides to karaoke contests -- planned around the dances. A number of traditional Salem College community-wide events -- such as Fall Fest, Sophomore Surprise, the Sophomore/Senior Banquet, the Christmas Candle Tea, Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners, the Founders Day Celebration, and the Graduation Weekend festivities -- make life here something graduates remember for a lifetime.
