Rachel Scott, CNA, CPT - Services:
- The Health Center nurse and physician provide care for acute illnesses, information and education on women's health issues, referrals for off-site specialists, and maintain confidential medical information. These services are free of charge. Students will be referred to off-site specialists as needed. Fees for off-site specialist vists are the responsibility of the student. Students are also responsible for transportation to off-site appointments. In the event of an emergency the student will be transported by EMS.

- Missed Class Excuses:
- The Health Center Staff WILL NOT write excuses for missing class due to illness. The nurse will validate in writing that you were seen in the clinic if your professor requests documentation of the visit.
- Pharmacy/Laboratory:
- Salem College does NOT have a pharmacy or a lab. The Health Center staff can dispense over-the-counter medication to students at no cost. Prescription medications must be obtained at a local pharmacy. Some diagnostic testing is performed on-site and is free of charge (Strep-A, blood glucose, mono, urinalysis and urine pregnancy). Other laboratory and diagnostic tests are ordered at the discretion of the provider and the cost of these tests is the responsibility of the student.
- Recommendations:
- Make every effort to become familiar with the Health Center (Before you need it!!). Please inform the staff of any chronic conditions that may require support from the Health Center Staff.
- Health Insurance:
- All students are REQUIRED to have health insurance. Plan details, cost, enrollment dates and waiver information will be mailed in June of each year. The waiver needs to be completed each year that you are a Salem student.
- Required Forms for First Year and Transfer Students:

All first year and transfer students must submit a completed physical form and provide a record of immunizations that are required by NC State Law to Health Services by August 1st. Forms are available by clicking on the above found in the side-box labeled "Health Forms and Resources".
