Salem Orientation 2013
Welcome to our new Class of 2017 and to our new transfer students! One of the most exciting journeys of your life - your undergraduate experience - is about to begin, and we are thrilled that you have chosen to attend Salem! Our faculty, staff, and students look forward to meeting you in August. One group that is particularly excited to meet you is the Orientation team!
Orientation at Salem is a four day introduction to the Salem community, including academics and social life! During orientation, you will meet your Orientation leaders, your academic advisor, and the rest of the rest of the administration of Salem. You will register for your fall courses, enjoy a community building retreat with your class, and experience some favorite Salem traditions. By the time classes begin, we trust that you will feel settled and welcomed as a Salem sister!

Salem Traditions
Salem Orientation includes some of the most beloved Salem traditions! We encourage you to bring nice attire for two of these occasions. The first is the Honor Code Signing Ceremony, at which time all new students sign the Honor Code. The second is Opening Convocation, which is a formal ceremony for the entire Salem community which officially begins the new academic year.
Class of 2017 Retreat!
As part of the Salem Signature Leadership Program, the Class of 2017 will travel to Camp Hanes for a day-long community building retreat on the second day of Orientation. In addition to team building exercises, you will be able to enjoy the wonderful lakefront and swimming pool at Camp Hanes. Please plan accordingly to wear comfortable clothing and shoes for this retreat, and to bring a swimsuit and towel if you plan to use the waterfront.
