Alcohol & Drug Policy
Salem Academy & College Department of Public Safety takes a proactive policy toward alcohol abuse, driving while impaired, and underage consumption. At no time will underage drinking or driving while impaired be tolerated. Only students who are legally allowed to consume alcohol will be allowed to possess alcohol while on campus. Public Safety working in conjunction with the Dean of Students Office will present educational programs to the student population on the dangers of underage drinking, impaired driving, and alcoholism. If any student is caught on campus violating any section of the institutions alcohol policies could be subject to disciplinary proceedings.

Salem Academy & College is a drug free campus and work environment. Any student found to be in possession of any illegal substance will be sanctioned by the Dean of Students Office and could face criminal prosecution. Any Public Safety Officer can search for illegal substance in any location owned by the institution. The Public Safety Officer will be assisted by a repersentive of the Dean of Students Office. Any illegal substance will be seized.

The purpose of our efforts to reduce underage drinking and use of illegal substance is to benefit the safety and welfare of students. When students are impaired, their abilities to make clear and relational decisions are hindered. This impaired behavior increases the odds of a student becoming a victim of crime. Please remember there are always those people who are opportunistic criminals and when we can make ourselves a harder target, they are likely to move to an easier target.

If anyone believes a fellow student or friend is using an illegal substance, underage drinking, or suffering from alcoholism, please click on the blind email link to send public safety a message or drop a note under our door. We are here to help and have extensive resources to help. Your efforts can only save those who need help. Please remember our only focus is to help.
