Welcome to the Salem College and Academy's Public Safety Department's Web Page. The Public Safety Officers would like to extend their best wishes to all students, staff, and administration. The department of Public Safety's fundamental duty is to serve the Salem Community and provide a safe educational and work environment. We strive to achieve this goal through proactive patrol, investigation of incidents, victim assistance, and educational programs. Current staff brings 140+ years of public safety experience to the campus of Salem College and Academy. Nevertheless, the most important aspect of safety on campus is everyone helping us to make the community safer.

The Department consists of 13 officers including the Chief of Public Safety. Our department provides 24/7 365-day services to the Salem Community. Our mission is to unite our community and our department into a proactive problem-solving team; unified in this partnership we accomplish our goals of enhancing the quality of life and preventing crime. Officers are empowered to serve Salem as professional, innovative, freethinking public safety officers that serve and lead their community through honest, ethical, and compassionate acts.

• Assist with medical emergencies
• Fire prevention and response
• Escorts
• Manufacturing of college id's
• Vehicle registration
• Assist with unlocking and jumpstarting vehicles
• Traffic control
• Fire and burglar alarm response
• Fire drill education and preparation
• Victim assistance
• Crisis management
• Building security
