Margaret Rehder

Margaret Lou Rehder did her undergraduate work in violin performance at Butler University, Salem College, and Meredith College, and received her Masters degree in violin performance from the North Carolina School of the Arts. She is a member of the Winston-Salem/Piedmont Triad Symphony where she has served as a second violinist, a first violinist, and currently is the assistant principal second violinist.

Rehder has taught full time in the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County schools as a strings teacher since 1984. Her orchestras have consistently won excellent and superior ratings at NC State Orchestra Contests and regional competitions. She is currently the orchestra director at Wiley Middle School and R.J. Reynolds High School. Rehder has developed a teaching aid for the violin called 'FingerTips' which she has used successfully in both public and private teaching. She has been nominated to "Who's Who of American Teachers" several times, and, in 1998, was selected as the Winston-Salem Junior Youth Orchestra director.

She served as conductor of the repertory All-County Middle School Orchestra in 2002. She is the current president of the WS/FC strings teachers. Statewide, she has served as treasurer for the American Strings Teacherís Association and chairperson of Western Region Orchestra Contest/Festival.
