Coach: Lee Trotman

Salem College Equestrian

The Salem College Equestrian Team was founded in 1981 by Clai Miller (C'1983). The team rides at Cozy Fox Farm - a 60 acre farm just 20 minutes from Salem's campus. The farm has 22 stalls and two riding rings. There is ample pasture for riding as well as turnout.

The team members are required to take 11 lessons in the 13 week semester and attend at least one horse show to receive PE credit. The horse shows are local hunter schooling competition.

The team also volunteers at Riverwood Therapeutic Riding Center to help with their horse show.

There are lesson horses for the team, and students can board their own horse. The Equestrian program is very relaxed and the girls find that learning is fun.

Ms. Lee Trotman is the instructor of the 22 year old program. She received her BA degree in PE/Horsemanship from Averett College in 1975 and has competed on the National level. Lee started Cozy Fox Farm in 1978 and has students showing successfully in Hunter and Equestrian classes.
