The Women of the Civil Rights Movement Tell Their Story
In celebration of Women's History Month, Winston-Salem State University, Salem College and Wake Forest are presenting events March 29 and 30 on women's contributions to the Civil Rights Movement as they relate to "Hands on the Freedom Plow," a book published in 2010 featuring personal accounts of women involved with the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC).
Elliott and Whitener selected as GSAC Doubles Players of the Week
The Great South Athletic Conference has named its women's tennis Players of the Week in singles and doubles with Melody Mitchell (Piedmont), Katherine Elliot (Salem), and Summer Whitener (Salem) all making the list. Mitchell took home the singles honor while Spirits partners Elliot and Whitener were given the league's doubles honors.

Salem SAAC donates worn shoes to Soles4Souls
The Salem College Student Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) just finished their collection of used shoes as part of the Great South Athletic Conference (GSAC) shoe drive. All of the SAAC programs from the member institutions in the GSAC collected shoes to support Soles4Souls. SAAC and SAAC President Tatum Justice were able to collect thirty-two pairs of shoes, which have been sent to the conference office in LaGrange, GA.
