Salem Chaplain to Present at Global Conference

Salem chaplain and professor Rev. Dr. Amy Rio-Anderson will present a paper at the 2012 Global Conference for Chaplains in Higher Education.

Salem College chaplain and professor, Rev. Dr. Amy Rio-Anderson, will present her paper, "College Women's Spiritual Wellness in a Multi-faith Setting," at the 2012 Global Conference for Chaplains in Higher Education, June 25-29 in New Haven, Connecticut.

Rev. Rio-Anderson, who has been chaplain at Salem since 2007, has lead a number of spiritual initiatives on campus through Salem's Interfaith Council. Each year, she conducts a host of programs for students, touching on multiple faiths. Some of this past year's programs included a Passover Seder, a panel discussion on goddesses and the annual Moravian Christmas Candlelight Service. Rev. Rio-Anderson has also been very involved in Salem's campus-wide wellness initiative as a member of the Wellness Council. She recently taught students about spirituality and nature, coinciding with the new Women In Nature (WIN) wellness program.

The Global Conference of Chaplains in Higher Education is held every four years. This year's conference theme, “Mosaics in Motion: Spiritual Leadership in a Multi-faith World,” will be explored by looking at the core values of religious literacy, radical hospitality, service with thoughtful reflection and creating and sharing sacred space.
