Salem Professor Chosen for National Workshop

Salem College Assistant Professor of Political Science Dr. David Foley was recently selected to attend the Philip Merrill Center for Strategic Studies teachers’ workshop in Vergennes, Vermont. Dr. Foley was one of a select group of faculty nationwide chosen to participate in this workshop.

Held June 3-7, 2013, the workshop will address a wide range of topics related to teaching strategic studies, including building a syllabus for an introductory course, case teaching, simulation design and execution, the use of film for teaching, and preparing students for Internet research.

Dr. Foley has taught at Salem since 2006. In addition to his work in the classroom, Dr. Foley serves as the faculty adviser to the Salem delegation to the National Model United Nations. He also advises Pi Gamma Mu and the Student Libertarian Association at Salem.

“Dr. Foley's outstanding leadership of Salem's International Relations program, in which he teaches courses in strategic studies, was instrumental in his selection for this prestigious workshop,” says Dr. Susan Calovini, Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs and Dean of the College.
