Salem Celebrates Professor Barbara Lister-Sink's 25th Anniversary

Salem College School of Music Director Barbara Lister-Sink was honored with a surprise reception on April 1 to celebrate her 25th anniversary at Salem. Following a concert by School of Music students, Dean Susan Calovini lauded Lister-Sink’s achievements, and the Friends of the School of Music presented her with a gift.

Lister-Sink was named Director of the School of Music earlier this year. She also serves as a piano professor and artist-in-residence. From 2009-2011, she served as acting director and artistic director of the School of Music. She also previously succeeded Dean Clemens Sandresky as the first female dean of the School of Music, from 1986-1992.

Lister-Sink is an internationally acclaimed performer and global leader in the field of injury-preventive keyboard technique. During her tenure at Salem, she designed and now directs America’s first fully accredited professional certificate program in injury-preventive keyboard technique.

Lister-Sink has also served as experienced evaluator for the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM) and as a private consultant for music departments throughout the United States. Since 1996, she has been the executive director of Wingsound International, an organization dedicated to helping pianists and organists throughout the world develop injury-preventive technique. She is also president of the Lister-Sink Foundation, Inc., a non-profit organization founded in 2011 to offer scholarships for the study of injury-preventive keyboard technique.
