Reserves (Course Readings and Tests)
Course Reserves
Your professors may place required or suggested readings "on reserve" at Gramley Library. These reserves are held at the Circulation Desk on the 1st (Main) Floor of Gramley Library. The binder on the desk lists items on reserve by department, professor, and course number. Provide the circulation attendant with the Call Number for the reserve item(s) you need. A CURRENT SALEM PHOTO ID IS REQUIRED TO CHECK OUT RESERVE MATERIAL.
Circulating periods are set by your professor, but most reserve materials circulate for three hours and may not be taken out of the Library. Exception: reserve material may be checked out overnight one hour before the Library closes. Reserve material checked out for overnight use is due 30 minutes after the Library opens the following day.
The overdue fine for reserve items is $1.00 for each hour or fraction
thereof. (e.g. A book returned 5 minutes late will cost the same as one returned 50 minutes late: $1.00)
Tests on Reserve
Many non-final tests for your classes are made available to you at the Circulation Desk, 1st (Main) Floor of Gramley Library. Your professor will advise you when s/he makes use of this service, which allows you to take the test at your convenience during open library hours.
A CURRENT PHOTO ID IS REQUIRED
TO OBTAIN YOUR TESTS.
The Library staff does not proctor tests.
The "Tests on Reserve" service at Salem College falls under the provisions of Salem's Honor Code. Student violations will be reported.
