The Fleer Center offers several scholarships each semester. Deadlines for all Fleer Center applications are June 1 for the fall semester and December 15 for the spring semester. No emailed or faxed materials will be accepted. All submissions must be delivered (or postmarked) by the deadline.
The Fleer Center will email and post announcements when it is time to begin submitting applications.
This scholarship pays for one full course at Salem College and must be used within a twelve-month period. Applicants must represent Salem College sisterhood and be currently enrolled in two or more Salem College courses. In addition, applicants must have completed at least six Salem classes and have a 3.5 GPA in coursework completed at Salem.
This scholarship was created by adult education student Patricia McAleer and is available to students who merit financial support based on the applications and previous educational endeavors. Preference will be given to single mothers over the age of 25. No previous Salem College coursework is required.
This scholarship was established by Robert Elberson, a member of the Salem Academy and College Board of Trustees, in honor of his friend Shirley D. Shouse. Ms. Shouse was a 2001 graduate of Salem College. She was an adult education student with a major in religion. Preference will be given to students majoring in religion. Applicants must have taken at least one class at Salem College.
This award was created by Marie Van Hoy Bellin in memory of her late husband. He was a businessman and continued his education at Salem College for the pure joy of increasing his business acumen. Marie is a Salem College graduate in the Classics and more recently studied the organ at Salem. In keeping with the Bellins’ many interests and their passion for lifelong learning, this scholarship recognizes Salem students who are passionate about their own educational pursuits. Scholarship monies are available for students who are degree-seeking or who are enrolled in a certificate program, especially those who may be studying in business, music, languages or literature. Applicants must have taken at least one class at Salem College.
This scholarship was created by Robert E. Elberson, a member of the Salem Academy and College Board of Trustees. It will be awarded to need- and/or merit-based Salem College female students enrolled in the Fleer Center for Adult Education.
This scholarship was created by adult education student Adrienne Amos Livengood who was a 2009 graduate. It will be awarded to need-based Salem College students enrolled in the Fleer Center for Adult Education.
