It was a heroic journey. One of the great treks in America’s history. Six women and 12 older girls set out from Bethlehem, Penn. on an early October morning 250 years ago. Their goal: To walk more than 500 miles to the back country wilderness of colonial North Carolina. Who were they? What route did they take? What dangers did they face? Did they arrive safe and sound? Richard W. Starbuck, Archivist of the Moravian Church, Southern Province, tells their story at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Old Salem Visitor Center. Admission is free.
