DESCRIPTION:One of the foremost collections of African American histor
 y spanning the period of 1860 to the present\, “Sankofa” takes aud
 iences on a journey through\nslavery\, the era of King Cotton and days
  of Emancipation. It also tells the stories of Ida B. Wells\, other fa
 mous African Americans\, the Tuskegee Airman\, Dr. King\, and our 44th
  president. This exhibit includes more than 20 tables of historical ar
 tifacts\, pictures\, writings and other tangible items which are enhan
 ced with a guided tour\, question and answer session and dramatic pres
 entation. This one-day presentation is open to all. Groups are welcome

 d like to bring so we can adequately plan for your group’s arrival. 
 This exhibit is sponsored by Salem College and offered free to the com
 munity. There will be a break in the exhibit from Noon until 1 p.m.
