In conjunction
with Sexual Assault Awareness month, Dr. Matt Ezzell will speak at Salem about men’s role in
ending violence against women. Dr. Matt
Ezzell is an Assistant Professor of Sociology at James Madison
University. After
receiving a BA in Women's Studies from the University
of North Carolina at Chapel
Hill, he joined the rape crisis movement as a full-time educator
and crisis advocate. Dr. Ezzell entered graduate school and focused his studies
on the sociology of race, class, and gender inequality, non-violent resistance,
and feminist theory, finishing his PhD in 2009. He is a board member of the
international feminist anti-pornography movement, Stop Porn Culture, and he
travels widely speaking and organizing against inequality. Free. Sponsored by the Committee on Cultural
