Growing up in China during the Cultural Revolution of the 1960s and 1970s, Ping Fu watched soldiers murder two of her teachers, lost her parents to re-education campus and suffered abuse for trying to rescue her sister from drowning. She was imprisoned during college for her research into China’s history of infanticide. After being deported she made her way to the United States. She is now creator and CEO of Geomagic, a 3-D software company based in North Carolina’s Research Triangle Park. Honored by Inc. Magazine as “The Entrepreneur of the Year” in 2005, Ping Fu describes herself as an artist and a scientist whose chosen expression is business. Since 2010, Ping has been serving on the NACIE (National Advisory Council on Innovation and Entrepreneurship) board at the White House and is a member of NCWIT (National Council on Women in Technology.) Reception following talk. Sponsored by the Office of Cultural Events.
