Women in Science and Math

The Women in Science and Mathematics program is designed to provide academic and career support for Salem students interested in pursuing careers in science or mathematics. This program was developed in response to the difficulty women still face when trying to enter these traditionally male dominated fields. Women in Science sponsor such programs as the Salem Science Seminar Series, the Women in Science and Mathematics Hotline, What's Up in the Science Building newsletter, trips to conferences and focus groups.

Future projects include developing a mentoring program and programs targeted to assist minority students. The Women in Science and Mathematics program is open to all members of the Salem community and beyond. Faculty members are welcome to participate in all facets of this program. One goal of the program is to increase the interaction between science and non-science faculty in the classroom. If you have any ideas on how to incorporate science and mathematics into non-science curriculum or vice-versa or if you would like ideas please let us know! Contact Rebecca Dunn at dunn@salem.edu for further information.
