Biography:

Dr. Jacobson is originally from Minneapolis, MN and she was drawn to Salem because it offered the unique opportunity to teach at a women's college in her area of expertise.

She has published several works such as The Gifted Adult, 2000 (Ballantine); The Brat Stops Here, 2005 (St. Martin’s Press); Chapter in: Gifted Minds and Morality (Ambrose and Cross, Eds.), 2009 (Springer Science).

For her, the strength of a women's college is that it offers students different, more positive outcomes, advantages for leadership and an easy-going atmosphere.

Dr. Jacobson‘s favorite course to teach is Social Psychology. She enjoys working with her students in advising, career planning, internship supervision, and honors independent studies. She believes the benefit of choosing Psychology as a major at Salem is that you will find considerable departmental expertise, much interactive learning and tremendous opportunities for mentored growth - and even undergraduate research!

Dr. Jacobson has three adult children, one in medicine, one in the movie industry and one in international security. When she is not working, Dr. Jacobson likes to play golf, garden, travel and sing. She works every summer as a consultant with organizations on talent development management in Europe.
