International Literary Awards Guidelines
  • Competitions are open to anyone writing in English, except current Salem Academy & College employees & students;
  • All submissions must be previously unpublished;
  • Author’s name and address must appear on a cover page only. If your name appears on your manuscript, your manuscript will be immediately disqualified;
  • Submit a cover sheet with your name, address, telephone, email, genre, word count (for prose), line count (for poems), and the title(s) of the work(s);
  • Each prose manuscript submission can be up to 5,000 words; each poetry manuscript submission can be up to 3 poems;
  • Submit three (3) clean, typed copies of your manuscript, a SASP for notification of your submission and the $15 reading fee made out to Salem College Center for Women Writers, memo line: International Literary Awards;
  • NEW SNOW DAY DEADLINE: Submissions must be postmarked by 15 March 2014;
  • Answers to frequently asked questions:
    • You may enter the contest as many times as you'd like, but each submission must follow the above guidelines;
    • This is not a book contest; the Center for Women Writers does not have a press or a literary journal; contest fees do not cover a subscription;
    • We do not accept email submissions. If you query us via snail mail, either submit a SASE for our reply OR include an email address so we can respond to your questions;
    • We've received questions re: gender. There is no gender guideline. The contest is open to any person living in the U.S. & writing in English, with the exception of Salem Academy & College staff, faculty, and students;
  • Winners announced 2 May 2014.
