"Severed Hands and Hidden Secrets": An Evening with Writer Dan Chaon

Join us for a reading by National Book Award finalist Dan Chaon, who will discuss the inspiration behind his latest novel, Await Your Reply. An unsettling and heartbreaking examination of identity, relationships and betrayal, the book is a literary tour de force with the momentum of a thriller. “You will never forget the scene involving a severed hand,” says critic Ron Charles in The Washington Post. “[Chaon’s novel] succeeds as brilliantly as the short stories that have won him a Pushcart Prize, an O. Henry Award and an Academy Award in Literature from the American Academy of Arts and Letters.” Dan Chaon is the author of two novels and two collections of stories. He is the Pauline M. Delaney Professor of Creative Writing at Oberlin College. Free and open to the community. Sponsored by the Beverly Johnson Pritchard Lecture Series
