Complexities: Images and Text by Bea Nettles
Bea Nettles will give an overview of her photographic work and writing that investigate what it is like to be a woman artist/mother/teacher with the juggling and compromises that these roles entail. She uses these experiences to fuel her artwork. On the 20th anniversary of her book, Complexities, many of the issues raised have become hotly contested including the concept of "working mother," and women's reproductive rights. Nettles offers unflinching, wise, and sometimes humorous advice. For more information: http://www.salem.edu/events.
