About the Center for Musical Excellence

The mission of the Center for Musical Excellence at Salem College (CMESC) is to serve students of all ages, interests and diverse backgrounds by providing excellence in music education. We seek to assist students in realizing their goals and dreams of music-making.

The mission of the Center for Musical Excellence at Salem College (CMESC) is to serve students of all ages, interests and diverse backgrounds by providing excellence in music education. We seek to assist students in realizing their goals and dreams of music-making.

We believe that every person has musical abilities that can be developed. Our programs are geared towards both hobby and professional musicians.

Lastly, we want to contribute to the larger cultural community by providing artistic, educational and recreational programs.

History

Salem College has been a cultural and educational landmark in our community for 240 years! We hosted the first complete Kindermusik program in the United States and have offered music lessons to the community since 1772.
