We are back in the United States. We were all very sad when it came time to get back on the airplane. Some tears were shed when we said goodbye to our amazing tour guide. Everyone was very excited to be home and it made me a little sad to know that I wasn't. It was sad to think that when I arrived at the airport I wouldn't have any family waiting for me at the airport. But the second I stepped back on campus, I was welcomed by some friends who had made me a welcome back poster. It was then that I realized that even though I'm not at home, I wouldn't want to be anywhere else then at Salem with my amazing second family of close friends. We have a lot to do in the next week. We will have a daily class so we can ease back into our daily routine and reflect on our times in Argentina. We will prepare a presentation that will be open to all faculty and students. Busy, busy, busy. I'm glad to be back. I didn't realize how much I missed everyone here at Salem and even the small, simple things.

Hello! We are in our second week in Argentina and the highlight of this week would probably be our trip to Mendoza. Mendoza is located about 12 hours northwest of Buenos Aires. We took a double decker luxury bus and rode all night, waking up the next morning in Mendoza. We had a free day in Mendoza, but instead we all decided to plan a spontaneous trip to the Andes mountain range. We took a three hour bus ride and took a short hike to see Mt. Aconcagua, which is the highest peak in the Americas. It was very chilly and we were at a very high altitude, but it was definitely a break from the Argentine summer heat. It was a humbling and breathtaking experience. We went to an olive oil production site, took a poterry class, explored the city, and visited a cathedral. We did so many things in Mendoza that it is hard to even recall them all, but it was definitely an amazing experience and a break form the busy Porteño (someone who was born in the city of Buenos Aires) lifestyle.

My name is Angela Mojica and I am a sophomore at Salem College planning to double major in Spanish and International Business. I was born and raised in Dallas, Texas.

This Jan Term, with the help of the Wachovia Scholarship, I will be traveling to Argentina. This two-week trip was designed to focus on the marketing and branding of Argentina through its business, art, food, wine and culture. Salem has given me multiple opportunities to study abroad including trips to Mexico and Greece. Having been on previous study abroad trips, I know the importance of learning new things about different cultures. With all the knowledge and insight that I have gained from these trips, I am very excited for what awaits me in Argentina. My hispanic background and fluency in Spanish will help me make the most of this trip as I explore another Hispanic culture. I have a very full schedule for the next two weeks but I wouldn't have it any other way.
