Week Two

I must say, this past week has been the most hectic, yet adventurous and exhilarating week of my life! I climbed the Great Wall of China on what I believe was the most windy and coldest day of the year...and I survived. Really, I have a shirt that proves it!

China - The Forbidden CityI must say, this past week has been the most hectic, yet adventurous and exhilarating week of my life! I climbed the Great Wall of China on what I believe was the most windy and coldest day of the year...and I survived. Really, I have a shirt that proves it!

During the week, the group also visited among others a Taoist temple, Tiananmen Square, and the Forbidden City, where the emperors of the ancient dynasties lived. Words cannot express the beauty of these places. Equally beautiful was the history behind these buildings and the people who occupied them. I loved visiting the remnants of Old Beijing, now just one city called Hutong and being warmly received by the cutest old man. He holds strong beliefs in old Chinese practices such as Feng Shui and shared a few of those beliefs with us. As our hotel in Beijing is within walking distance from the Olympic Stadium, we saw it everyday and once walked through it. It was spectacular! The Forbidden City

The highlight of my week was a cultural and business exchange held between us and an MBA class at one of the oldest universities in Beijing.  I made a lot of new friends (one guy said he wanted to marry me!) I am now about to embark on a 46-hour train ride from Beijing to Lhasa, Tibet. This amazing invention is supposed to reach an altitude of about 14,000 feet.
Wish me luck!China's Friendliest Monk
