Volleyball splits a pair of road GSAC matches
The Salem College volleyball team split two Great South conference matches this weekend. The Spirits defeated LaGrange College (25-17, 19-25, 25-13, 22-25, 16-14) and lost to Piedmont College (16-25, 14-25, 16-25). The team also lost a non-conference match at Toccoa Falls on Friday. Salem is now 8-13 overall this season and they improve to 4-2 in the GSAC.
Volleyball defeats Piedmont Baptist for the second time this year
The Salem College volleyball team defeated neighbor Piedmont Baptist College for the second time this season in a non-conference game. Salem defeated Piedmont Baptist in four sets (25-20, 25-19, 21-25, 25-17). Keri Nolan (Calabash, NC) led the Spirits with 17 kills in the match. Salem improves to 7-11 on the season.
Volleyball drops home non-conference match against Methodist
The Salem College volleyball team dropped a non-conference match at home against Methodist University. The Spirits played a strong first two sets, but Methodist prevailed with a 3-1 (21-25, 25-19, 15-25, 12-25) win. Christine Tillman (King, NC) led the Spirits with 10 kills. Salem falls to 6-10 on the season.
Volleyball improves to 3-1 in the Great South
The Salem College volleyball team split two Great South matches today hosted at Wesleyan College. Salem defeated Wesleyan in three games (25-14, 25-11, 25-16). The Spirits fell to Huntingdon College in four sets (15-25, 25-22, 20-25, 16-25). Sara Maher (Longmont, CO) led the Spirits in both matches in set assists. Salem improves to 3-1 in the conference, and 6-9 overall.
Volleyball starts Great South play with two wins against Agnes Scott and Spelman
The Salem College volleyball team won their first two Great South matches today at home. The Spirits defeated Agnes Scott this morning in an exciting five-set match (26-24, 25-22, 23-25, 18-25, 15-11). Salem also defeated Spelman this afternoon in four games (25-19, 25-13, 20-25, 25-22). Christine Tillman (King, NC) led the Spirits with 25 total kills on the day. Salem improves to 2-0 in the GSAC, and to 5-8 on the season.
Guilford defeats Salem volleyball at home
The Salem College volleyball team lost in three sets to non-conference opponent Guilford College tonight in the Salem Gym. Guilford defeated the Spirits 25-18, 25-17, 25-16. Keri Nolan (Calabash, NC) and Cassie Durham (Dobson, NC) led the Spirits with six kills each. Salem falls to 3-8 with the loss.
Volleyball drops two close home matches
The Salem College volleyball team lost two very close home matches in a tri-match yesterday. Salem lost in five sets against Hollins University (25-20, 25-22, 11-25, 19-25, 10-15). The Spirits returned to drop a match against Virginia Intermont College in four sets (25-23, 23-25, 21-25, 22-25). Keri Nolan (Calabash, NC) had a very strong day for the Spirits with 28 total kills. Salem falls to 3-7 on the season.
Volleyball splits two away matches
The Salem College volleyball team split two games this week on the road. The Spirits defeated Piedmont Baptist College on Tuesday in four games (25-22, 23-25, 25-10, 25-15). The Spirits lost in Raleigh to the Peace Pacers in four games last night (17-25, 25-21, 25-8, 25-19). The Spirits are now 3-5 on the season in non-conference play.
Volleyball beats Sweet Briar in first home match
The Salem College volleyball team won their first home match easily against visiting Sweet Briar College. The Spirits won the non-conference match in three sets (25-8, 25-14, 25-19). Randi Roppolo (Weeki Wachee, FL) led the Spirits with 12 kills, 2 service aces, and 3 digs. Salem improves to 2-4 overall with the victory.
