The Salem College Director of Athletics, Melissa Barrett, is pleased to announce that Dana Wall will become the third coach in the NCAA era of the Salem Volleyball Program.

Overall Record at Salem: 23-30

Dana Wall became the third coach in the NCAA era of the Salem Volleyball Program and took the team to the NCAA Tournament in her first year. The Spirits compiled a volleyball record 14-14 record and a Great South Tournament Championship in Wall's first season in 2012.

Wall comes to Salem with over 3 decades of experience as a player, instructor, and coach. She is currently the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) North Carolina State Chair and Director, and will be a delegate at this years AAU National Convention.

Wall’s coaching experience includes assisting at the Division I level at Cal State Dominguez Hills. She also coached club volleyball in California for many years at Seal Beach Volleyball Club and Fluid Volleyball Club. She has several years of high school coaching experience, which mostly recently includes The Elon School in Burlington, NC. She coached Elon to a third Place finish in 2010 and a first place finish in 2011 in the North Carolina Private School 1A State Championships.

Last year, Wall started Spirits Volleyball Club for girls in the area. The Club participated in local tournaments and also played in Regional/National tournaments including the AAU Coastal Classic in Myrtle Beach.  Spirits VBC is on track for another great season in 2014. 

Wall just returned for the 9th annual European Global Challenge where she coordinated a team of junior players from across the nation to play for "Team Nfinity". Players trained in Italy and the tournament was held in Croatia. Wall was a coach for "Team Nfinity" during the summer of 2011, which finished eighth at the European Global Challenge. The team was composed of local college players including now assistant coach Christine Tillman.  Wall has been taking teams to the European Challenge since 2008 with the USA High Performance Program and AAU Volleyball. 

A San Diego native, she had a stellar playing career at San Diego State University, where she was a middle blocker and the team was ranked as high as fourth nationally in the NCAA Division I. She still holds the record for block solos in a match with 8, and she is in the top 5 at SDSU for career block solos and season block solos. As a player, she has multiple US Open National Championships and an AAU National Championship under her belt. She has been a US Open First Team All-American five times.  She is a former contract player for the Women's Professional Beach Volleyball Association (WPVA).

Wall is IMPACT certified through USA Volleyball for both Beach and Indoor volleyball. She is a member of AAU, USA Volleyball, The JVA, and the American Volleyball Coaches Association.

She currently resides in New London, NC with her family.

Assistant Coach: Christine Tillman

Christine Tillman has been hired for her second stint as an assistant for the volleyball program. Tillman was a graduate of West Stokes High School where she played volleyball all four years.  She went on to play at Salem College between 2007 and 2010, where she became a two-time All Association of Division III Independents All-Conference Player, two-time Great South All-Conference Player, and two- time GSAC All Academic member. 

She holds records in the program for career kills, aces, blocks, and digs as well as the single season record for kills and blocks. After graduating from Salem, Tillman had the opportunity to travel overseas to play in the Global Challenge in Croatia, where her team was coached by Head Coach Dana Wall. Tillman then went on to be the assistant coach at Salem College for the 2011 season, and is now the assistant volleyball coach at West Stokes High School. She is planning to start her 6th year of coaching juniors club volleyball under the direction of Dana Wall.
