Winston-Salem, NC-The Salem College volleyball team traveled down the road to defeat Piedmont Baptist College in three games. Salem won each match easily (25-15, 25-17, 25-15). Salem's record improves to 7-12.

Katie Lineberger (Maiden, NC) had a strong match with 11 kills, 10 digs, and 3 blocks. Christine Tillman (King, NC) provided 10 kills, 8 digs, and 3 blocks. Stephanee Thibodeaux (Jacksonville, NC) had 7 kills, 5 digs, and 2 blocks. Nicole Swinney (Woodlawn, VA) had a strong match with 7 kills and 2 blocks. Khadija Layne (Dorcester, MA) provided the Spirits with strong defense, and had 7 kills and 2 blocks.

"Serving and intensity were the goals against Piedmont," said Head Coach Amanda Ziemba. "PBC is always a scrappy team and plays really good defense.  For us it was focusing on what we do well, hitting and serving.  I thought the team executed very well on our free ball offense. The team is starting to get excited about winning again and the opportunity that hard work brings."

Salem plays again on the road on October 8th at Peace.
