Winston-Salem, NC- Salem College hosted Piedmont Baptist College in a non-conference volleyball game Thursday evening at the Spirit Coliseum. With the largest crowd of the season in attendance, Salem College (1-8) defeated the Conquerors in straight sets by the score of 30-25, 30-22 and 30-26. This win is the first of the 2007 season and the first in Head Coach Amanda Ziemba’s collegiate coaching career.

Tani Hatch (FY, Salt Lake City, UT) led the Spirits with 11 kills followed by Whitney Sorenson (Jr., Glendale, AZ) with 9 kills. Christine Tillman (FY, King, NC) led the Spirits with 9 blocks to go with her 4 kills. Katie Lineberger (Jr., Maiden, NC) contributed in the win with 6 kills and 4 blocks. Katie Mullins led Piedmont with 12 kills.

Head Volleyball Coach Amanda Ziemba was very proud of her team in their first victory. “Tani Hatch played exceptionally well tonight,” she commented in the emotional celebration after the game.
