Track & Field ends season at Highlander Invitational

The Salem College track & field team finished the 2013 season setting more school records at the Radford Highlander Invitational.

sawyerstartRadford, VA-The Salem College track & field team finished the 2013 season setting more school records at the Radford Highlander Invitational. Heather Huffman (Winston-Salem, NC), Elizabeth Penley (Newport, NC), and Sawyer Ferguson (Billings, MT) all broke school records in the meet.

Ferguson smashed the 1500 meter school record in a time of 5:15.68, which was good enough for 3rd place. She also finished in 3rd in the 400 meter hurdles. Huffman broke her own 200 meter record in 27.31, and she also finished in 8th place in the 100 meter run. Penley broke her own school record in the shot put with a throw of 8.48 meters, which placed her in 12th place.

Stephanie Hubbard (Sanford, NC) finished in 6th in the javelin throw with a best throw of 34.82 meters. Stephanie Verdi (High Point, NC) finished in 3rd in the 5000 meter run.
