Track sets new school records at Wofford

The Salem College track team set several new school records at the Wofford Terrier Relays. The 4X800 relay and the distance medley relay had the highest finishes for the Spirits.

woffordtrackSpartanburg, SC-The Salem College track team set several new school records at the Wofford Terrier Relays. The 4X800 relay and the distance medley relay had the highest finishes for the Spirits in the meet.

The Salem 4x800 relay consisting of Cristi Magracia (Lemon Grove, CA), Courtney Hedgecock (San Diego, CA), Natali Olveda (Salinas, CA), and Karoline Summerville (Charlotte, NC) finished 5th and set a new Salem record with a time of 11:07.83. The distance medley of Olveda, Michelle Lawler (Gibsonville, NC), Summerville and Magracia finished 6th and also set a school record (14:38.20). 

The  4x400 with Magracia, Carolyn Merkel (Greenville, SC), Olveda and Summerville finished 8th and set a Salem record (4:51.45).  In the 1500 meter run, Hedgecock finished 11th with a time of 5:38.55 and Tali Schroeder (Lexington, VA) finished 17th with personal record time of 6:08.80.

Lawler recaptured the Salem long jump record and and set a personal record with a jump of 4.17 meters. Merkel finished 14th in the 200 meter run with a personal record time of 31.17. Stephanie Verdi (High Point, NC) finished in 11th in the 5000 meter run.

The Spirits return to action next weekend when they head to the Furman Invitational in South Carolina.
