Track opens up season with meet at Lenoir-Rhyne

The Salem College track & field team opened up their 2012 meet at the Lenoir-Rhyne Powersox Invitational. Karoline Summerville (Charlotte, NC) finished in 10th in the 400 and 21st in the 800. The meet featured several NCAA Division II programs, and Salem was the only DIII program.

Karoline Summerville (Charlotte, NC) finished in 10th in the 400 and 21st in the 800. The meet featured several NCAA Division II programs, and Salem was the only DIII program.

Stephanie Verdi (High Point, NC) was Salem's top finisher in the 5,000 finishing in 13th. Natali Olveda (Paso Robles, CA) was 21st in the mile and 15th in the 5,000. Cristi Magracia (Lemon Grove, CA) finished 23rd in the mile and 14th in the 5,000. Tali Schroeder (Lexington, VA)  had her best collegiate time in the 5,000 and finished in 19th.

Michelle Lawler (Gibsonville, NC) finished 11th in the long jump, 8th in the triple jump, and 17th in the 100. Courtney Hedgecock (San Diego, CA) finished 12th in the long jump, 24th in the mile, and 25th in the 800. 

The Spirits return to the track next weekend, when they travel to UNC-Wilmington.
