February 11, 2013
Winston-Salem, NC-The Salem College tennis team is set to start their season this week under first-year Head Coach Mike Hollman. Hollman returns to the court after being an assistant at Salem from 2007-2011. The team will return 7 players from last year's squad. They kick-off their season on Saturday when they host William Peace at 12:00.
"Our goal for Salem College tennis is to provide the opportunity for each player to become the best she wants to be," says Coach Hollman. "Each season brings the unique qualities of those players meshing together as a team, combining their strengths, encouraging each other, and growing as individuals in a challenging sport."
The team kicks off conference play on February 23rd when they host Huntingdon College as they try to fight for seeding position in the Great South Tournament.
Angela Reavis (Boonville, NC) and Kerri Morgan (Walnut Cove, NC) will be the team's captains. Andrea Akers (Pinnacle, NC) and Reavis will be the team's top 2 seeded players to start the season.
