Mariana Hollman joined the Salem College coaching staff as the new Head Tennis Coach in 2007.  Hollman has over 30 years of playing and coaching experience. She currently is the Director of Tennis at the Adams Farm Swim and Tennis Club in Greensboro, NC and is the director of the Junior Tennis Program/Academy. She is training and developing young players from ages 11 and up to become competitive tournament and collegiate level players.  Hollman plans to raise the level of the tennis program at Salem by recruiting tournament and experienced players to the program.

Hollman graduated from Pepperdine University (Division I) Malibu, California in 1986 with a B.S. in Mathematics.  During her collegiate years, she competed against the best junior tennis players in the country, many of whom later played on the professional tour.  After her four years of competing, she became the assistant coach at Pepperdine University where she spent two years recruiting and coaching the Women’s Tennis Team and playing on the summer pro circuit.

Hollman’s coaching and playing experience includes coaching at the high school and collegiate level.  She spent over 12 years coaching at the high school level while she was teaching mathematics. When she is not on the court teaching and coaching, Hollman plays competitive tennis on the national level.  She has been competing nationally for over 15 years and has won over 60 national singles and doubles titles in her respective age groups.  She has represented the United States on over six U.S. National Teams (won 3 World Titles) and has competed all over the world (Germany, South Africa, Australia and Turkey).

Coach Hollman was born in Cuba, is married to husband Mike and has two daughters, Natasha 23 (UNCW student) and Chelsey (20).
