Tennis upsets Great South defending champions

March 30, 2014

Decatur, GA-The Salem College tennis team shocked Agnes Scott on the road this weekend. The Spirits defeated the Great South defending champions 5-4. The Spirits took two doubles matches, and the two teams split singles. Salem improves to 5-3 overall and 2-0 in the Great South. They now are in the driver's seat for winning the Great South Regular Season Title.

Head Coach Kevin Fleck said, "I am very proud of the way our team competed today at every level.  It truly was a team effort and everybody showed up to play their game today.  The top of our lineup played against some seasoned competition."

"I feel that they learned a lot and were able to pick up their games to make them earn it.  The second half of our lineup came up huge for the team.  That was the best I've seen them play all year.  We beat a well coached team that gave us everything they had.  We are looking forward to going toe-to-toe with them again later this season!"

Salem will host William Peace on Friday. The beat the Pacers in Raleigh earlier in the season.
