Tennis falls against North Carolina A&T

March 20, 2014

Winston-Salem, NC-The Salem College tennis team had their three-game win streak snapped against North Carolina A&T. A&T was able to win 7-2. Andrea Akers (Pinnacle, NC) continued her hot play as she won at #1 singles.. Salem falls to 3-3 with the loss.

"Today was a great opportunity for us to compete against a Division I program. I feel that we learned a lot and have a great idea of what it takes to get to that next level," said Head Coach Kevin Fleck.

Coach Fleck said, "#2 and #3 doubles played some of the best doubles at those positions all year. Ona James and Leia Pruitt had a great debut at #3 doubles and stepped up for the team. Ona also had a great win at #6 singles and displayed the hard work she has put in during her years at Salem. Andrea came up big with a win at #1 singles and played the best match I've seen her play all year.  \We had 3 very close matches at #5 singles and #2 and #3 doubles that if they had gone our way would've turned into a victory.  \We're looking forward to continuing to improve and compete in our first conference matches next week!"
