Kevin Fleck hired as new tennis coach

kevinfleckcoachWinston-Salem, NC- Kevin Fleck has been hired as the new head tennis coach by Director of Athletics Melissa Barrett. The appointment is the first college head coaching position for the former Clemson University student-athlete.

Fleck replaces Mike Hollman, who oversaw the program this past year. The Spirits reached their first Great South Athletic Conference Tournament semifinal match in 2013.

“Coach Fleck’s professionalism, leadership and passion for tennis are all key ingredients to build a tennis program Salem College and the surrounding community can be proud of and excited about,” said Barrett. “His local recruiting contacts, coaching experience with high level players and his Division I playing experience will help us build the future of Salem tennis.  The future is bright in the capable hands of Coach Fleck.”

Fleck currently works for the Randy Pate Tennis Academy in Winston-Salem. He creates and provides advanced instructive lessons for groups and individuals on the tennis court, along with other duties. Fleck has also worked for Winston-Salem Tennis Inc., where he instructed underprivileged youth. Fleck was a semi-professional player from 2009 through 2011.

He graduated from Clemson with a financial management degree in 2009. Fleck was a 2007 All-Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Men’s Tennis Team Member. He was a four-year letter winner for the Tigers.

Fleck will begin his responsibilities at Salem immediately.
