Raleigh, NC-The Salem College tennis team easily picked up their first win of the season at Peace (8-1). Rukhsona Usmanova (Durham, NC) continued her hot play at number one singles with a victory over Kristin Starnes (6-3, 6-1). Salem improves to 1-1 on the season, and Peace falls to 0-1.
Usmanova was partnered with Katherine Elliott (Edenton, NC) to defeat Starnes and Elizabeth Burns (8-1) in number one singles. Elliott defeated Starnes in number two singles play (6-3, 2-6, 10-2).
Kim Wisen (Madison, OH) and Amy Allison (Geneva, OH) both won their singles and doubles matches. Jennifer Greene (Hendersonville, NC) won the number five singles match.
Salem hosts their first home match of the year next Friday against Greensboro College.
