Greensboro, NC-The Salem College tennis team lost its first match of the season against Emory and Henry (6-3). The match was played at Greensboro College. Ruckshona Usmanova (Durham, NC) was dominant for the Spirits in her first ever collegiate tennis match. Salem falls to 0-1 with the loss.
Usmanova beat Jill Williams (6-3, 6-1) in the number one singles position. She was joined by Katherine Elliott (Edenton, NC) to defeat Williams and Jess Williams (8-3) in the number one doubles match. Kim Wisen (Madison, OH) won the number five singles match against Sajanna Kaleegallant (6-1, 6-4).
Salem will travel to Peace College this Friday for their next match.
