Tennis drops two road GSAC matches

LaGrange, GA-The Salem College tennis team dropped two away Great South tennis matches this past weekend. The Spirits fell against Huntingdon (0-9) in Alabama, and in a close match at LaGrange (4-5). Salem falls to 3-4 overall, and to 1-3 in the Great South.
Rukhsona Usmanova (Durham, NC) was the only Spirit that was able to test Huntingdon. She lost to Katie Scott in number one singles action (4-6, 3-6). She was able to win in number one singles action later in the day at Lagrange against Becky Johnson (6-3, 6-2).
Usmanova and Katherine Elliott (Edenton, NC) were unable to win either of their number one doubles matches. Elliott defeated Rachel Watson from LaGrange in Number two singles play (6-4, 6-4). Cierra Young (Savannah, GA) won her first singles match of the year against LaGrange, and Amy Allison (Geneva, OH) continued her strong singles play.
The match against LaGrange played all the way until 10:00 at night. Kim Wisen (Madison, OH) went back and forth with Kelsey Ellison of LaGrange in number five singles action, before falling in the third set (4-6, 7-5, 4-6).
Salem returns to action on April 8th when they travel to Greensboro College in non-conference play.
