Tennis loses shortened match against Averett

High Point, NC- The Salem College tennis team fell to Averett University, 6-1, this past weekend. Tori Collier (Raleigh, NC) continued her strong singles play by defeating Kerri Fallen (6-2, 6-4). Two of the singles matches did not finish due to time allotment at the High Point indoor facility where the match was played. Salem fell to 2-7 on the season with the loss, while Averett improved to 4-8.
Anna Devoe (Chesapeake, VA) was leading her match by a set and a game before it was cancelled and not finished. She fought back from a 5-2 first set deficit to win the set. The number one doubles team of Elise Rouse (Wilmington, NC) and Michala Michaux (Morganton, NC) lost in a tiebreaker 9-8 (7-5).
Salem will return to action as they head to Sweet Briar for their final match, April 17th at 4:00.
