Salem ranked second in fall standings for GSAC President's Cup

LaGrange, GA-The Great South Athletic Office has released the 2009 fall standings
for the President's Cup. Maryville leads in the women's standings. Maryville won fall
championships in women's soccer and volleyball. Huntingdon won women's cross country.
Salem is tied for second place in the eight team conference in the schools first year in the GSAC. Both volleyball and soccer reached the semifinals of their conference tournaments, and they both fell to the eventual champion in that match. Cross country finished second in the Great South Championships, and were led by All-Conference runners Julie Piernikowski (Potomac, MD) and Stephanie Mendez (Atlanta, GA).
Soccer finished the season with a 12-7-1 overall record to reach the ten win mark for the second time in the past three seasons. Volleyball had a strong finish to its season by going 4-2 in its last six matches.
