Coach Hollman’s Comments:

“The match was an extremely hard fought match by both of the teams.  The score was 5-4 in
favor of Mary Baldwin.  All three doubles matches were extremely tight, with Salem
winning at #1 doubles and Mary Baldwin at number 2 and 3.  In the singles, all matches
were well played and hard fought.  Salem's #1 came into the match with a knee injury and
had to retire after the first set, after being up 4-1 in the first set and looking like
she was going to win handly.  That was tough for Salem because with that match Salem would

have won.  All the other matches were tight, at #2, Salem's Anna Devoe came back and was
leading in the in the second set 4-1 ( after losing the 1st set 6-0) to a tough and very
consistent Caitlin Crowe.  The points were very long and well played.  At #3, Michala
Michaux played a great match and won, 6-2, 6-3.  The most impressive win today came on
the number 4 and 5 positions.  Salem’s two newest members of the team and with the least
experience played flawlessly.  They had consistency with focus and tenacity to win both of
their matches.”
