Tennis Defeats Wilson for First Victory of the Season
March 10- Salem College hosted Wilson College (PA) in a non-conference tennis match on Saturday afternoon. The beautiful skies of North Carolina and the warmth of the sun provided a delightful atmosphere the Spirits of Salem College earned their first win of the season. The results are as follows:

- Elise Norton(SC) defeated Sami May(Wilson) 6-0,6-0
- Anna DeVoe(SC) defeated Nikki Smith(Wilson) 6-0,6-1
- Mary Miller(Wilson) defeated Tiara Murphy(SC) 6-4,7-5
- Ruthie Gant(Wilson) defeated Rachel Fichthorn(SC) 1-6,2-4 Default
- Brooke Hedgepeth(SC) defeated Lyndsay Smith(Wilson) 6-4,6-4
- Kim Crowell(Wilson) defeated Cristina Alvarez(SC) 6-2,6-2
Doubles
- DeVoe/Norton(SC) defeated Smith/Miller 8-3

According to Head Tennis Coach Kieran Brown, “Having a healthier team and our #1 player (Elise Norton) certainly contributed to Salem’s win over Wilson College. Salem took an early lead winning all three doubles matches and splitting the singles matches. Rachel Fichthorn had control of her match with a lead of 6-1, 4-2, when she had to retire from sickness.
