Softball loses two close games on the road at Huntingdon

Montgomery, AL-The Salem College softball team lost two games at Huntingdon in their Great South openers.
Huntingdon won the first game 4-1 and the Hawks squeezed out a 4-3 win in the 2nd game of the doubleheader. Karson Chapman (Lewisville, NC) led the Spirits with 3 total hits for the day. Salem falls to 3-7 overall and 0-2 in the Great South, while Huntingdon improves to 2-6 and 2-0.
Allie Watkins (Locust, NC) pitched both games for Salem. She only allowed 7 hits in the 1st game and 9 hits in the 2nd game. Watkins also went 2-4 at the plate in the 2nd game and had 1 run batted in. Kayla Kennedy (Goldsboro, NC) led the Spirits with 3 runs scored. Kennedy also had 2 doubles on the day.
The Spirits finish up their road trip today as they play a non-conference doubleheader at LaGrange.
