Softball set to kick-off 2013 campaign next week

The Salem College softball team is back at practice gearing up for their first game of 2013. The Spirits will hit the road on the 12th to take on William Peace in non-conference action.

The Spirits will hit the road on the 12th to take on William Peace in non-conference action. Salem will compete against Agnes Scott, Wesleyan, Covenant, and Huntingdon for the Great South Regular Season Championship. Finlandia and Pine Manor will join the other 5 teams for the GSAC Tournament.

Head Coach Scott Long said "I look forward to seeing our ladies compete this year. We may be young, but this team brings a lot of heart and passion to the ball field everyday."

The Spirits will host their 1st home doubleheader on the 16th starting at 1:00. Great South action begins on March 2nd at Huntingdon.

"We have added a wonderful group of first years that are going to be big contributors such as Kierston Garner, Allie Watkins, Rebekah Ballard, and Sidney Davidson. These ladies along with All-Conference Player Amber Bass, All-Freshman team Kayla Kennedy, and Team Captain Emily DeVane will lead the way in our commitment to bring a conference championship to Salem College," said Long.
