Softball falls to Huntingdon at home

The Salem College softball team kept things tight with Huntingdon for two games, before the Hawks pulled away in the late innings. Huntingdon won both games by the score of 11-4, but they scored 11 combined runs in the 6th and 7th innings of the two games. Salem falls to 10-20 overall and 7-7 in the Great South, while the Hawks improve to 23-9 and 16-0 in conference play.

Huntingdon won both games by the score of 11-4, but they scored 11 combined runs in the 6th and 7th innings of the two games. Salem falls to 10-20 overall and 7-7 in the Great South, while the Hawks improve to 23-9 and 16-0 in conference play.

Kayla Kennedy (Garner, NC), Kristi Morton (Trussville, AL), and Kierston Garner (Danbury, NC) all finished with 3 hits in the 2 games. Garner and Morton each had a double and a home run, and Kennedy blasted a triple. Morton led the Spirits with 3 runs batted in. Kennedy led the team with 2 runs. 

The Spirits will close out regular season play tomorrow when they host Wesleyan. They will look to finish Great South action with a winning record in conference play, and they will also celebrate the last game of senior Amber Miller (Mebane. NC).
