Softball picks up important split with Maryville at home

The Salem College softball team picked up an important Great South split with Maryville College today at home. In the doubleheader, Salem won the first game 5-3 and fell 7-2 in the second game. Amber Bass (Clinton, NC) finished with 3 hits in the 2 games for the Spirits. Salem improves to 6-14 overall and 2-4 in the Great South.

Winston-Salem, NC-The Salem College softball team picked up an ambermillercatchimportant Great South split with Maryville College today at home. In the doubleheader, Salem won the first game 5-3 and fell 7-2 in the second game. Amber Bass (Clinton, NC) finished with 3 hits in the 2 games for the Spirits. Salem improves to 6-14 overall and 2-4 in the Great South.

Abby Settles (Reidsville, NC) picked up the win on the mound in the first game. She pitched all 7 innings and only allowed 3 runs and 3 hits. 

In the first game, Bass went 2 for 4 with 1 run batted in. Kristi Morton (Trussville, AL) batted in 2 runs on 1 hit.

Shelby Drummonds (Boone, NC) gave up 8 hits in the loss of the second game. Morton blasted a home-run in the second inning. 

The Spirits return to action on Sunday, when they travel to Fayetteville to take on Methodist University in a non-conference doubleheader.
