Soccer has successful spring tournament at UNC-Wilmington

Wilmington, NC-The Salem College soccer team had a successful spring tournament at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington Seahawk 7 vs. 7 Classic. The Spirits finished in second in their group and lost in the quarterfinals of the tournament, which consisted of all NCAA Division I and Division II schools besides Salem.
The Spirits defeated Barton and Mount Olive and fell to UNC-Pembroke in group play. They lost to Mount Olive in the quarterfinals. Bethany Kent (Manassas, VA), Sabrina Thiel (Hillsboro, OH), Stephanie Hubbard (Sanford, NC), Courtney Hedgecock (2;San Diego, CA) and Sawyer Ferguson (Billings, MT) all scored. Jessi Carter (Tampa, FL) had a strong day in net.
Thanks to the generosity of Salem alumni:Kelly Laham, Liz Perritt, Laura Shearin Walsh, and Val Froneberger; the Spirits stayed the weekend and had a great meal at a beach house at Carolina Beach.
