Soccer stays undefeated with dramatic comeback win

The Salem College soccer team concluded their first 2013 home game in dramatic fashion with a 2-1 comeback win against Greensboro College.

Winston-Salem, NC-The Salem College soccer team concluded their first 2013 home game in dramatic fashion with a 2-1 comeback win against Greensboro College. Taylor Norman (Springfield, VA) scored a goal and assisted on the game winner in the victory. The Spirits improve to 3-0-2 with the win.

"Our team put together a great 90 minutes against a very well-coached team," said Head Coach Jay Callahan. "Greensboro got the lead on a fantastic set piece, and they are very hard to break-down. We did a great job of continuing to work and it paid off with two excellent goals."

Greensboro's goal came in the 31st minute on a set piece by Elizabeth Torres. The Pride went into the break with a 1-0 advantage. Norman scored on an assist by MacKenzie Schmidt (Columbus, OH) in the 65th minute. Tarryn Bundy (West Deptford, NJ) scored the game-winner in dramatic fashion with less than 7 minutes to play.

The Spirits out-shot Greensboro 15-6, including 9-2 shots on goal. Each team had 2 corner kicks. Paige Ketchum (Jacksonville, NC) earned the win in goal for Salem.

Salem returns to action on Wednesday at home when they host NCAA DII Barton College at 4:00.
